Invoice Generator: a complete guide

What a good invoice contains

An invoice is a request for payment that also serves as a record for you and your customer. A clear invoice shows who is billing whom, a unique invoice number, the date, a due date, each item with quantity and rate, any discount, the tax and the final total, plus how to pay. Invoices with these details are paid faster and cause fewer questions.

How this generator works

Fill in your details and your customer's details, add items with quantity and rate, and set the Tax / GST percentage and any discount. The subtotal, discount, tax and total are calculated automatically and shown in the live preview as you type. You can add your GSTIN or tax ID for both parties and write payment details such as bank account and IFSC in the notes. Press Download PDF to save a ready-to-send invoice. Nothing you type is uploaded.

GST and numbering tips

Use one invoice number per bill and never reuse it — for example INV-001, INV-002. The tax field applies one percentage to the amount after discount; if your invoice must show CGST and SGST separately, write the split in the notes or confirm the format with your accountant. Choose the right currency, such as ₹ INR for Indian customers.

Common mistakes to avoid

Missing due dates, wrong GSTIN, unclear item descriptions and forgetting bank details are the most common reasons for late payments. Check the preview carefully before downloading.

Good habits

Keep a copy of every invoice you send, store them by month, and send the PDF rather than a photo so the details stay sharp and professional.
