Why passport photos need exact sizes
Passport, visa, ID card and application forms specify exact photo sizes, such as 35 × 45 mm, which many countries and forms use, or 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), which US passports and visas use. Photos with the wrong size or with the face too small are commonly rejected.
How it works
Choose a photo, then pick a size: 35 × 45 mm, 51 × 51 mm, 33 × 48 mm, 40 × 50 mm, or a custom size in millimetres. Use Zoom and the move sliders to position the face in the frame. Download one photo as a JPG (optionally under a maximum KB size for online forms), a 4 × 6 inch print sheet as a JPG, or an A4 print sheet as a PDF with several copies.
What this tool does not change
The background is not changed and the face is not edited. If the rules require a white or light background, take the photo in front of a plain light wall. Rules about head size, glasses, expression and lighting differ between countries and documents, so always check the official requirements.
Common problems and how to fix them
The face is too small or too large: adjust the zoom until the head fills the frame as the rules describe. Prints come out the wrong size: print at 100% / actual size, not “fit to page”. The online form rejects the file size: enter the form's limit in the maximum KB box.
Good habits
Take the photo in daylight facing a window, keep the camera at eye level, and print one test sheet before ordering many copies.
