Why salaried employees need rent receipts
In India, employees who live in rented homes can claim House Rent Allowance (HRA) to reduce their income tax, and employers usually ask for rent receipts as proof. Landlords also benefit from a clear record of rent received each month.
How this tool works
Enter the tenant's name, the landlord's name, the monthly rent, the property address and the payment method, then choose the first and last month. The tool creates one receipt for every month in that period — up to 24 months — with the rent written in figures and words, dated on the last day of each month, and arranged three receipts to a page for easy printing and signing.
The landlord PAN rule
Under current Income Tax practice, employers generally ask for the landlord's PAN when the total rent paid in a financial year exceeds ₹1,00,000. Enter it in the PAN field so it appears on every receipt. Rules can change, so check your company's latest HRA guidelines.
Making receipts valid
Rent receipts should be signed by the landlord. Many employers also ask for a revenue stamp on cash payments above ₹5,000. Paying rent by bank transfer or UPI and keeping the transaction records makes your claim stronger.
Good habits
Generate receipts for the whole financial year at once, ask the landlord to sign each one, and keep copies with your rental agreement. Only create receipts for rent that was actually paid.
