What CSV is and why it is useful
CSV (comma-separated values) is plain text where each line is a row and commas separate the columns. Almost every program can import it: Excel, Google Sheets, Tally, Zoho, accounting and inventory software, CRMs, databases and programming tools. It is the most universal way to move table data.
What happens when you convert
The text lines of all pages are read in order and written into one CSV file, one row per line. Text separated by clear gaps on the page becomes separate columns. If the PDF contains no readable text, the tool tells you instead of giving you an empty file.
Opening the CSV correctly
In Excel, use Data → From Text/CSV to see a preview and choose column types — for example, set ID or phone columns to Text so leading zeros are kept. In Google Sheets, use File → Import. Double-clicking the file also works, but Excel may then change long numbers and dates automatically.
Common problems and how to fix them
Page headers repeat between rows: filter and delete them after importing. Some rows have columns shifted: lines with empty cells have fewer gaps; fix them manually. Indian-language text looks broken in Excel: import the file with UTF-8 encoding through Data → From Text/CSV.
Good habits
Remove cover and summary pages before converting, check row counts against the PDF, and keep the original statement or report.
