Where blank pages come from
Double-sided scanners scan the empty backs of single-sided sheets, printers add separator sheets, and exports sometimes end with empty pages. In a long scanned document, half the pages can be blank — making the file twice as large and annoying to read.
How blank pages are found
Every page is checked in two steps. First, pages that contain text are kept. Then the remaining pages are drawn at a small size and the amount of dark marks is measured. Choose “Completely empty only”, “Almost empty” (recommended, ignores dust and specks from the scanner), or “Very light marks too” for scans with faint marks bleeding through. The note lists the removed page numbers.
What is protected
The tool never removes every page, and pages with real text are kept. If no blank pages are found, it says so and nothing is changed.
Common problems and how to fix them
A blank-looking page was kept: it had faint marks or invisible text — try “Very light marks too”, or delete it with Delete PDF Pages. A page with a faint watermark was removed: use “Completely empty only”. You want to remove duplicate pages instead: use Remove Duplicate PDF Pages.
Good habits
Check the list of removed pages, compare page counts before and after, and keep the original scan until you are sure.
