Scanning without a scanner
Most people no longer own a scanner, but most phones have a camera. Scan to PDF turns photos of documents — forms, receipts, notes, ID cards, certificates — into a proper PDF that offices and portals accept, with a cleaner look than a plain photo.
How it works
Upload document photos or, on supported phones, take photos with the camera. Drag them into the right page order. Choose the page size (A4, US Letter or fit to image) and the colour mode: original colour, grayscale, or black and white with an adjustable threshold that turns paper white and text black. Each photo becomes one page.
What it does not do
The tool does not find the document's edges or straighten it automatically, and it does not recognise text. For the best result, fill the frame with the document and hold the phone level. To make the text searchable afterwards, run the PDF through OCR PDF; to straighten tilted pages, use Deskew Scanned PDF.
Common problems and how to fix them
Black and white looks too dark or loses text: move the threshold slider and try again. Shadows appear: take the photo near a window or under even light, without your hand above the page. The PDF is too large for a portal: use Compress PDF or a KB-target compress tool.
Good habits
Use a dark, plain surface under white paper, photograph each page straight from above, and check every page for blur before submitting.
