When you need a written leave application
Offices, schools and colleges often require leave requests in writing so there is a clear record of the dates and the reason. A polite, well-structured letter makes approval easier and shows respect for your manager or teacher.
How this tool works
Enter your name and designation or class, who the letter is addressed to, the organisation, the first and last day of leave, the reason and the date of the application. The letter is written for you in a standard polite format, the number of leave days is counted automatically from your dates, and the live preview shows the finished letter before you download it as a PDF.
Writing a good reason
Keep the reason short and honest — for example a family function, medical appointment, illness or personal work. You do not need to share private details. For sick leave longer than a few days, offices and schools may ask for a medical certificate.
Sending your application
Apply as early as possible for planned leave, attach the PDF to an email or print and sign it, and mention who will handle your work or how you can be reached in urgent cases if your workplace expects that.
Good habits
Check the dates twice, keep a copy of the approved application, and follow your organisation's leave rules and notice periods.
