What a contact sheet is
Photographers used to print all the frames of a film roll on one sheet to choose the best shots. A digital contact sheet does the same: it arranges many pictures as small thumbnails on one image, so you can see and share a whole set at a glance.
How it works
Add your pictures and set the thumbnail width (40–1000 pixels), the number of columns (1–10), the spacing, and the background colour. Turn on file names to print each picture's name under its thumbnail. Pictures appear in the order of the upload list, and the sheet is saved as one PNG image.
Typical uses
Send clients a proof sheet of a photo shoot so they can pick favourites by file name, print an overview of event photos, share a quick product catalogue in a chat, or keep a visual index of a folder of scanned documents.
Common problems and how to fix them
Thumbnails are too small to judge: increase thumbnail width or use fewer columns. File names look squeezed: long names are squeezed to fit the thumbnail width — use short names. The sheet is too large to send: use fewer pictures per sheet or compress the PNG.
Good habits
Name files clearly before making the sheet, order them logically, and use a neutral background so colours are judged correctly.
