    About Uppercase Text File

When is it useful? Uppercase Text File changes every letter in a .txt file to CAPITAL letters in one step. It is handy for headings and labels, product codes, names that a form or database wants in block letters, and lists that must match an official register written in capitals.

Good to know: only letters change; numbers, spaces, punctuation and line breaks stay exactly where they were. Choose the text language when it matters — in Turkish, i becomes the dotted capital İ, and the German ß becomes SS. Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil scripts have no capital letters, so that text stays the same. The file must be saved as UTF-8 and can be up to 2 MB.

    Tips for Better Results

    • Save the file as UTF-8 first — in Notepad use File → Save as → Encoding: UTF-8.
    • Choose Turkish as the text language for Turkish text, so i becomes İ correctly.
    • Keep your original file: Lowercase Text File can turn capitals back into small letters, but it cannot bring back the original mix of capital and small letters.

    Frequently Asked Questions

It becomes SS, as the uppercase rules require.
Do Hindi or Tamil letters change?
No. Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil have no capital letters, so that text stays the same.
    Can I undo uppercase later?

    Guide

Uppercase Text File: a complete guide

    When capital letters are required

Some systems and documents expect text in capital letters: official registers and certificates, airline and bank name fields, product codes and SKUs, shipping labels, legal headings and sign boards. Retyping a long list in capitals is slow and easy to get wrong.

    How it works

Upload a UTF-8 .txt file of up to 2 MB. Every letter is changed to its capital form using the rules of the language you choose — Default, English, Turkish, German, Greek, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu or Tamil. Numbers, spaces, punctuation and line breaks stay exactly as they were, and you download a new text file.

    Language details

Language rules matter for some letters: Turkish has a dotted capital İ and a dotless I, German ß becomes SS, and Greek has its own accent rules. Indian scripts such as Devanagari, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil have no capital letters, so text in them stays the same.

Common problems and how to fix them

“Not valid UTF-8”: save the file again as UTF-8 in your editor. Some words should stay in normal case, such as email addresses: fix them by hand afterwards. The file is too large: split it into parts under 2 MB.

    Good habits

Keep your original file, check names after converting, and use Lowercase Text File for the opposite job.
